Dear passengers,

When you find that you have booked an incorrect ticket, the following rules will apply.

An incorrectly booked ticket means a ticket where the passenger’s name or valid boarding identity document number is entered incorrectly, a repeatedly booked ticket on the same flight, or a ticket with segments reversed.

I. Scope of application

Domestic routes actually operated by Hainan Airlines as indicated on domestic transportation certificates issued by Hainan Airlines.

II. Handling provisions

(I) Rules for handling incorrect passenger names and document numbers

Passenger names and document numbers incorrectly entered when tickets are purchased may be corrected according to the following rules.

1. Scope of free change of passenger names

Homophones, variant characters, or phonetically or morphologically similar characters between passenger names on tickets and those on valid boarding identity documents, rare characters, and errors in single English letters (hereinafter referred to as “phonetically or morphologically similar characters”) are all within the scope of free change of names for passengers:

(1) Phonetically similar characters refer to characters with similar retroflex, cacuminal, alveolar nasal and velar nasal sounds such as Z, C, S\ZH, CH and SH; L\N, IN\ING and UN\ONG\IONG, or “南” (nan) and “兰” (lan), “龙” (long) and “农” (nong), except “黄” (huang), “王” (wang) and “房” (fang), and “飞” (fei) and “辉” (hui).

(2) Morphologically similar characters refer to characters that are easily confused and have similar parts, such as “拔” (ba) and “拨” (bo), “芳” (fang) and “芬” (fen), and “晨” (chen) and “晟” (sheng).

(3) A passenger is allowed to change his/her last name and first name by one character for free each (reduplicated characters in one’s name are regarded as one character). For example, “张丽丽” may be changed to “张莉莉” or “章莉莉”, all pronounced “Zhang Lili”.

(4) It is allowed to add one character to a passenger’s name with two or more characters, and reduce one character from a passenger’s name with three or more characters. For example, “张丽” (Zhang Li) may be changed to “张丽华” (Zhang Lihua), and “张小丽” (Zhang Xiaoli) or “张丽华” (Zhang Lihua) may be changed to “张丽” (Zhang Li) or “张华” (Zhang Hua).

(5) Individual passenger names may be duplicated or appear in both Chinese and English simultaneously (e.g., “杨敏杨敏” (Yang Min Yang Min) or “杨敏YANGMIN” (Yang Min YANGMIN)), or the order of passenger names may be swapped (e.g., “黄玲秀” (Huang Lingxiu) should be “黄秀玲” (Huang Xiuling)), or there may be obvious typographical errors following the correct passenger name (e.g., “张阳电信” (Zhang Yang Dian Xin)).

(6) For a Chinese pinyin or an English name, up to three English letters may be changed.

2. Provisions on free name change for passengers

When your ticket’s document number has not been changed, your ticket status is “OPEN FOR USE”. After the name is changed, the document number should not be changed.

(1) A ticket whose passenger name is to be changed without changing the flight or flight date may be subject to one free name change; if the passenger name is to be changed along with a voluntary change of the flight date or flight, the name will be changed once after the corresponding change fee or fare difference is collected according to the seat class booking provisions; for a ticket that has already undergone a name change, changing the name again will be handled as voluntary refund.

(2) For a partly used ticket, the passenger name should not be changed.

3. If the passenger name of a ticket is correct, but the valid boarding document number is incorrect, the passenger may contact Hainan Airlines for a change. Hainan Airlines may change the document number after verifying that the new document number provided by the passenger is authentic and valid. After the document number of a ticket is changed, the passenger name should not be changed.

(II) Refund rules for repeatedly booked tickets

If a passenger purchases two or more tickets on the same flight on the same date of Hainan Airlines, one repeatedly booked ticket may be refunded for free according to the following provisions. If any other repeatedly booked ticket is to be refunded, the voluntary refund rules will apply:

1. For repeatedly booked tickets, one ticket may be refunded for free 24 hours or more before the scheduled departure time of the flight. If the tickets have the same fare, the passenger may file a free refund application with the original issuer; if the tickets have different fares, the passenger can only file a free refund application for the last booked ticket with the original issuer.

2. After a passenger starts his/her itinerary, he/she can file a free refund application with the original issuer for any repeatedly booked ticket that is completely unused and meets the above requirements only.

(III) Refund rules for incorrectly booked tickets with segments reversed

If, due to a passenger’s mistake or for any other reason, the places of departure and arrival are reversed, and the following conditions are met, free refund may be handled for the incorrectly booked ticket:

1. For an incorrectly booked ticket with segments reversed, the booked seat of the ticket is cancelled 24 hours or more before the scheduled departure time of the flight.

2. The passenger should rebook a correct ticket with the opposite voyage on the same date of Hainan Airlines before free refund can be handled for the incorrectly booked ticket.

III. Handling channels

Ticketing offices directly affiliated to Hainan Airlines, Hainan Airlines customer service hotline 95339, and original ticket issuing places

IV. For tickets that do not comply with the above rules, the voluntary change or refund rules will apply.
