Other Fees and Services

Here is a breakdown of additional fees you may be charged based on your travel needs and preferences while travelling with Hainan Airlines:



Seat Upgrades


Passengers desiring for seat upgrade service on an international flight must do so at least one hour in advance and pay the difference in the fares.


Telephone Reservations


Hainan Airlines does not currently charge any fees (service/administrative) to passengers who have booked directly through the airline, or redeem for awards for free, either at a city or airport ticket office, via phone.


Reservation Changes


For international travel, the change and cancellation fees may vary in different international flights and classes. Please see below for a general guideline of approximate charges for flights between China and the USA:

Notes: Please contact Hainan Airlines directly for the most accurate fees as charges are calculated based on seat availability, fare basis and itinerary changes, which are subject to change on any flight day.


Unaccompanied Minors


On International and regional flights, unaccompanied minors will be charged at adult fares


If the passenger is 5-11 years old:

Purchase of applicable adult fare ticket is required; no child discount.
If the passenger is 12-15 years old:
Passengers purchasing tickets at the price of adult ticket may applied for unaccompanied children service. The charge will be USD70 or its equivalent in other currency per person/segment.

Traveling with Pets


  • Pets as Carry-On Baggage


    • Hainan Airlines does not accept pets in the cabin as carry-on baggage, with the exception of service dogs.


  • Pets as Checked Baggage

    1. 1. The total weight of pet, container and its food shall not be counted within the free baggage allowance. Consignor should pay for the pet as excess baggage.

    2. 2. Charges for excess baggage in baggage weight concept: Charges = Fees/Kg×Total weight. Notes: Fees/Kg is calculated by 1.5% of the standard ticket fare of economy class of single direct flight. Total weight includes pet, container and its food.

    3. 3. Charges for excess baggage in baggage piece concept: Charges = Charging multiple (determined by weight and bulk of the pet and container)×Fees. Notes: Fees refers to one piece of excess baggage of economy class in baggage piece concept with weight and bulk within limitation.
