  2. Under no circumstances shall passengers carry lighters or safety matches on the flight.
  3. Passengers carrying medicine and cosmetics containing flammable substances shall check in according to relevant provisions published by the security check department.

Lithium Batteries

  1. Passengers' laptop computers, cell phones, cameras, personal digital assistant and other portable electronic devices, if the contents of their lithium batteries are no more than 2 g, or the rated energy is under 100 Wh, can be treated as check-in or carry-on baggage; if the rated energy of their lithium batteries is between 100 Wh and 160 Wh, they can be treated as check-in or carry-on baggage after being approved by the carrier; and passengers should avoid their devices starting accidentally or the battery separating from the equipment. Spare batteries of portable electronic devices, the contents of which are no more than 2 g, or the rated energy under 100 Wh, can be treated as carry-on luggage with no more than 2; If the rated energy of the lithium battery is between 100 Wh and 160 Wh, you can carry no more than 2 after being approved by the carrier. Spare batteries should be wrapped up and separated from metal items, such as coins, keys, jewels and so on.
  2. Portable electronic medical devices that have a battery with a rated energy value of no more than 160 Wh or a lithium content of no more than 8 g can be transported as checked-in or carry-on luggage after receiving approval from the carrier. If the backup batteries or lithium ion batteries have a rated energy value of no more than 160 Wh or a lithium content of no more than 8 g, two of them at most can be transported as carry-on luggage after receiving approval from the carrier. Lithium batteries that have a rated energy value of higher than 160 Wh are strictly prohibited.
  3. Electric wheelchairs or mobility aiding tools that have non-removable batteries shall be transported as checked-in luggage. If the battery is removable and has a rated energy value of no more than 300 Wh, the lithium battery can be removed and carried after receiving approval from the carrier. If the backup batteries have a rated energy value of no more than 160 Wh, two of them at most can be carried after receiving approval from the carrier. If the backup batteries have a rated energy value of no more than 300 Wh, one of them at most can be carried after receiving approval from the carrier.
  4. Lithium Battery Protection Measures
    1. 1. Each backup battery should be well protected against short circuiting, which includes putting the backup battery in the original retail packaging or insulating its electrodes, for example covering exposed electrodes with tapes or packing each battery individually in plastic bags or protection bags. At the same time, measures shall be taken to prevent the battery from being crushed, punctured, or subjected to high pressure. These factors will cause short circuiting inside the battery, resulting in overheating.

    2. 2. Measures should be taken to prevent the lithium battery installed in the device from starting up unintentionally. At the same time, equipment with lithium batteries installed must be securely fastened inside a package, to prevent the battery from separating from the device during moving or luggage sorting.

    3. 3. The check-in counter provides passengers with plastic bags and other items to prevent lithium battery short circuiting and helps passengers protect backup lithium batteries against short circuiting.

  5. Standard-exceeding Battery Approval Unit

For base units, it shall be examined and approved by the director on duty in the operation room. For non-base units, it shall be examined and approved by the branch and station on-site operators on duty. For regions without the station, the Customer Service Department shall report to and obtain approval from the operator on duty of the Service Department.

  6. Application Form for Lithium Battery Transportation for Passengers (see Appendix 19.8.2.59).

The Application Form of Lithium Battery Transportation for Passengers shall be filled out by passengers. This applies to passengers who carry portable electronic devices containing lithium metal batteries or lithium ion batteries for personal use, wheelchairs powered by lithium ion batteries or other similar means of transport as well as backup batteries, and portable medical electronic devices installed with lithium batteries or lithium ion batteries for medical purposes and their backup batteries.

  7. Eye-catching notices regarding transportation of lithium batteries as luggage with visual examples are posted at ticket offices, the check-in station, the boarding station, and any place where the passenger can check in. Through network or self-check-in devices, passengers are provided with regulations and information regarding safe air transportation of lithium batteries when they buy tickets and when they check themselves in.
  8. Staff on duty for check-in shall verify and confirm that passengers are not carrying prohibited or restricted lithium batteries, and further verify those suspected of carrying prohibited or restricted lithium batteries. If the passenger is carrying a lithium battery that meets the requirements, the operator on duty shall explain the method of checked transportation of lithium batteries, and also provide a dedicated packaging bag for the lithium battery, and help fill out Application Form of Lithium Battery Transportation for Passengers and sign.
  1. Unless otherwise prescribed by airport authorities, Hainan Airlines allows passengers to go to the boarding gate with a stroller.
  2. If the stroller or folded stroller is within the range of 20 cm — 40 cm — 55 cm, passengers can take it into the cabin, and place it in the baggage bin or under the seat in front.
  3. If the stroller or folded stroller is larger than 20 cm — 40 cm — 55 cm, you need to check in the stroller at the boarding gate.
