Pets may experience discomfort from environmental factors such as high-altitude pressure and confined space during air transportation, and resulting emotional and physiological changes. Therefore, for the sake of your pet's safety, we kindly request you to choose air transportation prudently.

According to the Agreement for Shipping a Pet (Cat, Dog) in the Cabin on an International Flight of Hainan Airlines Holding Co., Ltd., taking care of and managing the pet is an obligation of the passenger. The passenger shall be solely liable for the injury or death of the pet or any third party arising from his/her failure to comply with this Agreement.

If you decide to choose air transportation, please prepare your pet for travel and read the following instructions carefully. Wish you and your pet a pleasant journey.

General Provisions
Pets: Hainan Airlines (not applicable to codeshare flights) accepts dogs and cats domesticated by families for transportation as pets only.
Pet in-cabin services is only available for economy class (excluding Premium Economy) on round-trip flights from Beijing to Bangkok, and Haikou to Bangkok(direct flights) actually operated by Hainan Airlines (HU).

Note: The VIP lounges on the ground in Beijing and Bangkok do not allow cabin pets to enter.We apologize for any inconvenience caused to you.

Transportation Restrictions
1.Applicant passengers:
Special passengers such as minors traveling alone, unaccompanied passengers (unaccompanied pregnant women, unaccompanied elderly people, unaccompanied teenagers, unaccompanied minors, etc.), ill passengers, disabled passengers, pregnant women, and adults carrying infants alone are not allowed to apply for bringing pets into the cabin.
2.Quantity of Pets Allowed in Cabin:
(1)Each passenger is allowed to bring a maximum of one pet into the cabin.
(2)For narrow-body aircraft, a maximum of four pets are allowed per flight; for wide-body aircraft, a maximum of six pets are allowed per flight.
(3)Pet in-cabin service is not available for passengers requiring transit/stopover/connecting flights.

3.Pets are not allowed to enter the cabin for transportation in the following cases:
(1) The live animal carried by the passenger is an animal prohibited from transportation by the state.
(2) Animals showing signs of infectious diseases or suspected carriers of infectious diseases (e.g., poultry from areas affected by avian influenza).
(3) Pets less than twelve weeks old.
(4) The pet is pregnant or underwent parturition within 48 hours before the departure time of the flight.
(5) The pet is restless, delicate or weak in character, sensitive to high-temperature and high-altitude environments, or unable to stay in the pet carrier for a long time.
(6) The pet is taking any sedative or hypnotic.
(7) The pet emits a foul odor or an unbearable pungent smell all over its body.
(8) The pet suffers from any otolaryngological, cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, respiratory, or digestive system disease, or underwent surgery in the past 48 hours.
(9) The preparation for pet transportation by air to be completed by the passenger has not been completed.
4.The following pets and their hybrids are not suitable for air travel, and are prohibited from pet transportation:
(1) Dangerous dogs and their hybrids (including aggressive fierce dogs such as fighting dogs, hybrid dogs with fierce dog bloodlines, and large dogs that are particularly large and prone to visual horror): large and medium-sized terriers (e.g., Bellington terriers and fox terriers), Staffordshire terriers, all boxers, all spaniels (Spanish hounds), all mastiffs (e.g., English mastiffs), pit bull terriers (also known as pit bulls), Japanese Tosa Inu, Fila Brasileiro (also known as Brazilian mastiffs), Dogo Argentino, and Belgian Malinois.
Note: Only large, medium-sized, small and toy terriers can be transported normally, where small and toy terriers include west highland white terriers, miniature schnauzers, etc.
(2) Dog breeds that feel unwell in high-temperature and high-altitude environments: Samoyed dogs.
Requirements for Pet Carriers and Pets
Pet carrier requirements

1.The pet carrier shall be placed under the seat in front of the passenger. Its length × width × height shall not exceed 35×28×24 cm. A soft-sided pet carrier may slightly exceed the above thresholds when unfolded, but its compressed volume shall not exceed 35×28×24 cm to ensure they fit under the seat in the cabin.

Risk alert: Due to the limited space under a cabin seat, it is advised to bring a pet that can stand and turn around freely in the pet carrier. If the pet is oversized and its motion is restricted throughout the flight, the comfort of the pet on board may be affected.

2.A soft pet carrier with a zipper must be selected, and a disposable buckle shall pass through the hollow part of the zipper to lock the box so that the zipper cannot be pulled open after locking. All zippers of the soft pet carrier shall be attached with a disposable buckle to ensure that the zipper heads cannot be opened and prevent the passenger from opening them without authorization. If any zipper cannot pass through the disposable buckle effectively for locking and fixation, it shall be rejected for transportation. On this basis, a protective pet net bag shall be added to the exterior of the pet carrier, and another disposable buckle shall be attached to the knot of the net bag. From the time when the check-in procedure is completed to the time when the passenger leaves the terminal of the destination airport, the disposable buckle and the net bag shall not be opened.

Pet requirements

The pet shall be subject to body cleaning before transportation and wear pet clothing throughout the flight
It shall wear a muzzle(required for dogs only) throughout the flight to prevent its barks from disturbing other passengers;
It shall also wear a pet diaper throughout the flight to prevent feces from contaminating the aircraft.
The pet shall be kept in the pet carrier, and the disposable buckle and the net bag shall not be opened throughout the flight. The passenger shall not give food or water to the pet in the cabin throughout the flight. During the security check, the pet shall be placed in the pet carrier and undergo a live animal security check according to the requirements of the security check unit of the airport.
Note: Except for the disposable buckle and the special protective net bag, the other materials mentioned above shall be provided by the passenger himself/herself.

Guidelines for Entry into Thailand

Basic Requirements

I. Official Documentation

1. An "Animal Health Certificate" issued by the official authority of the exporting country (China), valid for 14 days. The departure date must fall within the certificate’s period of validity.
2. Rabies Vaccination Certificate as required by Thai authorities (the vaccine must be administered after microchip implantation; validity is typically 1 year).
3. Pets must be microchipped with an electronic chip compliant with ISO 11784/11785 (15-digit numeric code).
4. Entry permits for all countries of entry and transit included in the itinerary must be provided as required by those countries.

II. Special Requirements

1. If the scheduled flight date falls outside the certificate’s validity period, new quarantine procedures must be applied for. 2. The passenger’s name and identification number must be indicated in the remarks section of the certificate; otherwise, a letter of authorization and proof of identity must be supplied.

Application Procedures

I. Online Submission

1. To facilitate passengers in completing customs quarantine procedures for outbound pets, the owner or a third-party agency may log into the "Internet + Customs - Public Services - Outbound Pet Quarantine" module or the "China International Trade Single Window - Business Application - Port Law Enforcement Declaration" to declare (pet and flight information, etc.), schedule on-site inspection appointments, etc.
2. Refer to the "Guidelines for Filling" when filling out the "Animal Health Certificate" application.

II. On-site Quarantine

1. Customs will review the submitted documents and verify the pet's health status, including its demeanor, body temperature, and vaccination records.
2. If the quarantine is satisfactory, the Animal Health Certificate will be issued.

Guidelines for Entry into China

Basic Requirements

I. Official Documentation​

1. The Animal Quarantine Certificate issued by the competent authority of the exporting country (e.g., Thailand), including microchip information, vaccination records, and antibody test reports.
2. Rabies Vaccination Certificate (must include records of two consecutive doses, valid for one year).
3. Rabies antibody test report (antibody titer ≥ 0.5 IU/ml; blood sample collection must occur after vaccination).

II. Special Requirements

1. The certificate must not be altered and must include complete information such as the pet’s date of birth, microchip number, vaccine type, etc. 2. The validity period of the antibody test report is one year from the date of blood sample collection (if revaccination occurs during this period, the validity must be recalculated).

Application Procedures

I. Quarantine Declaration

Within 14 days prior to arrival in China, apply to the competent authority of the exporting country for a clinical animal health examination.
Submit all required documents to China Customs and undergo on-site verification.

(I) Reservation Channels
1. Passengers can book pet transportation services through Hainan Airlines' directly-affiliated ticketing offices, the Hainan Airlines customer service hotline, the Bangkok office, the Hainan Airlines App, the Hainan Airlines mobile website, or the Hainan Airlines Mini Program.
(II) Reservation Deadlines
1. Reservations can be made through the Hainan Airlines customer service hotline, directly-affiliated ticketing offices, and the Bangkok office from 7 days up to 48 hours before flight departure.
2. Reservations can be made via the Hainan Airlines App, mobile website, or Mini Program from 7 days up to 72 hours before flight departure.
1. On the day of boarding, please bring your pet in a pet carrier, 2 copies of the International Cabin Pet Transportation (Cats and Dogs) Agreement and required documentation, and arrive at the check-in counter 2.5-3 hours before departure to complete transportation procedures (actual processing time subject to on-site check-in arrangements).
2. Passengers traveling with pets will be prioritized for window seats in the last row of Economy Class, with the pet placed under the front seat throughout the journey.
3. Avoid feeding your pet excessive food or water before the flight departure; to prevent the pet from escaping at the airport or in the cabin, posing a risk to the flight operation, do not remove the disposable lock or net bag, and do not open the pet carrier from entering the terminal until leaving the destination terminal.
4. Please read all terms carefully when signing the International In-Cabin Pet Transportation (Cats, Dogs) Agreement.
5. After submitting and paying for your order on the Hainan Airlines App, Mini Program, or official website, please check your application status promptly. Pets will only be allowed on board for bookings that have been approved and meet our transportation conditions. If your application is not approved, we will process a refund for you.
6. To ensure your information is accurate and processed effectively, please fill it in correctly. If the provided information is inconsistent with the actual situation, there is a risk that we may refuse to transport your pet on-site.
7. Complimentary pet insurance is provided. If insurance cannot be successfully purchased due to the passenger's reasons or insurance company restrictions, it does not affect traveling with the pet, but the benefits of the pet insurance may not be available.
8. After using the service, you can issue an invoice online in the Hainan Airlines app or mini program by navigating to: Service Hall - Arrival Service - Reimbursement Voucher - Electronic Invoice - Other Services - PETC. And you can also apply for an electronic VAT invoice by calling Hainan Airlines' 24-hour booking hotline. The invoice amount only includes the cost of the in-cabin pet product purchased.

    1. After purchasing an economy class ticket, on the homepage of the Hainan Airlines app or mini program, navigate to Service Hall - Special Transportation Services - PETC. Enter your ID number and ticket number, then click "Query".

    2. The system will automatically retrieve your itinerary. Then, click "Apply for Service".

    3. Review your itinerary information. If it's correct, follow the prompts to fill in the application and contact information, then click "Next". Note: After successful payment, we will send a purchase confirmation via SMS to the mobile number you provided. Please ensure you enter the mobile number correctly.

    4. Fill in your pet's information as prompted on the page, click "Submit", and complete the payment.

  • Refund process

    On the Hainan Airlines app or mini program, go to Service Hall - Special Transportation Services - PETC - Order Management and click "Apply for a Refund" within the order.
