"Green Tour – Carbon Offsetting" public welfare projectAs of February 2024, 50,124 tons of donated carbon sinks had been received, and about 50 mu of degraded mangrove forests were restored under this project, contributing to biodiversity watershed conservation and local economic development.
The "Green Tour – Carbon Offsetting" public welfare project is voluntary. When purchasing a ticket, a passenger can calculate the carbon dioxide emissions derived from the flight using the carbon offset calculator and choose to use cash or Fortune Wings Club bonus points for carbon offsetting voluntarily.Hainan Airlines will use offsets received for environmental protection programs to help offset the amount of carbon dioxide generated during your flight.Hainan Airlines will give all donations raised to the China Green Carbon Foundation for forestation without making any profit. Purpose of donationsDonations we raise will be used mainly for planting new seedlings for this mangrove forest and post-planting support to ensure the healthy growth of new seedlings. We will provide a more sophisticated tracking module on the growth of seedlings later. -
Significance of donationsThe ecological benefits of mangrove forests include breaking winds and waves, promoting silt deposition and beach protection, stabilizing banks and dikes, and purifying seawater and air.The well-developed root system can retain sand from land and effectively reduce the sand content in offshore areas, thereby protecting green spaces.
