On June 04, 2018 Hainan Airlines, Toronto Office celebrated Children's Day with an open house concept for parents and their children. More than 40 people including Hainan Airlines staff members and valued Frequent Flyers were present.

The theme of the event was Fly Your Dreams with Hainan Airlines. By noon, the office was full of smiling young children ranging from two years old to teenagers of second generation of Hainan Airlines staff, junior hockey players and children of our valued frequent flyers. Under the guidance of Hainan Airlines staff, the children and the parents alike learned about the eight (8) years of growth of Hainan Airlines Toronto-Beijing flight and took photographs with the Kung Fu Panda teddy bears and the aircraft model. They were also able to enhance their general knowledge of the aviation history. Some of the children participated in a talent show and each winner were rewarded with numerous prepared gifts.

Afterwards, the children and parents enjoyed a pizza, chips and cake for lunch to the delight of each child. Our media friends worked tirelessly throughout the event, taking wonderful pictures of the children and parents in order to retain a memorable souvenir of the event. By approximately 3:20 pm, Hainan Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner with more than 250 passengers on board landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport to the cheers and applause of the children which brought the event to its climax.

Towards the end of the gathering, Mr. Nick Zhu, General Manager of Toronto Office, thanked everyone for their participation and wished all children to be future flyers with Hainan Airlines. Throughout this great event, Hainan Airlines staff demonstrated the good working condition of Toronto Office by enriching the sense of belonging in a small knit family. It also reflected the excellent joie de vivre of Hainan Airlines overseas second generation to thrive and sustain the spirit of Hainan Airlines.

On the evening of October 20 (local time), Hainan Airlines held a reception together with Alaska Airlines in Seattle’s Wing Luke Museum to celebrate the success of their recently announced frequent flyer plan partnership. Around 180 well-known Seattle area business and political leaders including Former United States Ambassador to China Gary Locke, Mayor of Seattle Ed Murray, Former Mayor of Bellevue Conrad Lee, as well as Vice President of Hainan Airlines Hou Wei and CEO of Alaska Airlines Brad Tilden and other VIP guests attended the event.

Since it was announced and inaugurated on July 22, 2015, the partnership between Hainan Airlines’ Fortune Wings Club and Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan has received an enthusiastic reception from customers of both companies. The partnership allows frequent flyer members of both companies to accumulate miles by taking flights with the other company. In the near future, details on reciprocal mileage redemption and VIP membership benefits will be announced. Vice President of Hainan Airlines Hou Wei said: “Since 2008, when Hainan Airlines opened up its first direct flight service to North America, the Beijing-Seattle service, it has continuously strived to build a high quality flight bridge for Chinese and American passengers across the Pacific. Today Hainan Airlines operates seven flight routes to North America, up to 40 flights per week. This frequent flyer plan partnership between Hainan Airlines and Alaska Airlines will expand flight network coverage in the China and North American regions, bringing a service experience of a greater scope of flight choices and more convenience for both Hainan Airlines Fortune Wings Club and Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members.

Alaska Airlines’ flight network covers the USA, Canada, Mexico and Costa Rica and encompasses more than 100 cities. For eight consecutive years from 2008 to 2015 Alaska Airlines was judged as the airline company with the most customer satisfaction by the respected J.D. Power’s satisfaction research for airlines in North America. In addition, its frequent flyer plan – “Mileage Plan” – was judged to be the “airline loyalty reward plan with the most customer satisfaction” in 2014 and 2015, the J.D Power airline frequent flyer plan study reports. The Hainan Airlines flight network, which is spread throughout China and radiates out to Asia, Europe and North America, complements the advantages that Alaska Airlines has to make travel much more convenient for passengers. In this year, Hainan Airlines has opened up the three North American flight routes, Beijing=San Jose, Shanghai=Boston and Shanghai=Seattle and is currently operating seven North American flight services. This collaboration with the Alaska Airlines frequent flyer plan has greatly increased the Fortune Wings mileage accumulation channels for the North American region and also laid a foundation for a friendly collaborative relationship that benefits both parties. The coming mutual mileage redemption and VIP member benefit sharing are also eagerly awaited.
